Bowie
The Bowie competition is the club's nature competition, traditionally a strength for the club and a competition that typically has a very high standard of entry. Entrants can select up to four entries from two of the following categories: Zoological, Botanical, Geological, Astronomical and Meteorological.
The restrictions for this competition comply with the requirements for most national and international nature competitions. Only limited editing is permitted and the emphasis should be on the storytelling elements within the image.

The winner for the 2025 / 2026 season was Duncan MacDonald with his four images Comma, Cotton Harlequin Bugs, Triangular Spider and Moss Bells.
Craig Graham took second, Louise Walker third and Ken Dow took fourth spot.
Tricia Ramsay was awarded the Ila Bowie Trophy for the best developing photographer.
The selection of the best images was:
Best Image: Black Grouse - Mike Cruise
Best Botanical: Maritime Heath - Duncan McEwan
Best Zoological: Drowned Bat - Magda Jowers
Best Macro/Close-up: Comma - Duncan MacDonald
